A call to arms
I belong to a Yahoo group of Gen-X people who fancy themselves to be intellectuals. It's an online forum to discuss whatever topic the members bring up. There are no limits to conversation other than courtesy to others. Frequent discussions arise about the hot political topics of abortion, separation of church and state, and gay marriage. I jump in once in a while to try to defend the Christian faith and it's followers. I triggered quite a firestorm a while back when I mentioned that Creation was a fact and evolution was not. I often find myself fighting alone, which is odd given that the group has over 900 members (but probably <100 active participants). The latest question is about gay marriage. The question was posed about gay marriage being a "victimless crime". Here is the question:
"WHO is getting hurt if homosexual marriage is allowed? You happily married folks or those who might want to be someday. If the government suddenly told you that you were on your own. The country doesn't acknowledge your love as "real" and therefore is revoking your marriage license, you'd feel targeted, wronged, outraged. Who's being hurt by your being or getting married? The very same people who would be hurt if a same sex couple got married. What is it with people that they feel personally violated by things that have no effect whatsoever on them? It's sad."
It's the typical argument of "If you don't like that TV show, then don't watch it!". Or," Consenting adults don't bother anyone else with what happens behind closed doors!" Essentially, we're being told to mind our own business.
Based on previous debates, I can't bring the Bible into my rebuttal. Therefore, without condemning homosexuality as unbiblical or deviant, I have no response to this question. When asked why homosexuality and same-sex marriage are wrong, if I am not allowed to answer, "Because God said so", then I am stumped. If my audience refuses God's authority, then I can not effectively debate the topic.
So, I ask you, dear reader(s). What is a logical, rational, effective answer to the ticklish issue of gay marriage?

Gay "marriage" destroys heterosexual marriage and heterosexual marriage is foundational to society, especially children. Read this article for some more info:
